The Skate-Smart Inline Coaching Programme for Schools & Sports Centers, is the only skating programme recognised and sanctioned by FISS (Federation of Inline Speed Skating), the Governing body of Inline Speed Skating in the United Kingdom

The Federation of Inline Speed Skating (FISS), who are the National Governing Body to Inline and roller skate racing in Great Britain, recognise Skate-Smart as their sanctioned basic teaching programme and all tutors are police checked, fully insured and have completed a minimum of a level 3 with the National Coaching Foundation (UK Sport).

Our objectives are to teach children/adults safe skating in a well-controlled environment, public awareness and an introductory to the hazards of roller-skating. Time is given before the initial session starts to educate pupils on the correct way to wear all safety equipment. There are four phases to achieve, each consisting of six individual modules, before pupils are awarded with their certificate.

The Skate-Smart programme is designed to cater for all ages and abilities. There are 4 phases starting from grass roots i.e. basic skating movements, through to skating crossovers in small circles & cleaning and maintaining equipment. The programme requires a flat surface of a good size i.e playground/sports hall or any similar venue. Skates, helmets and safety equipment can be supplied by Skate-Smart or students may use their own.
